JAMES NACHTWEY: THE WAR PHOTOGRAPHER

Can suffering be shared? If so, then how could photographs describe it?

To answer this question, James Nachtwey has proven that he has made a huge impact by his pictures. Photograph can speak louder than any words. It knocks people hearts and increases their concern. And, it works!

Nachtwey, a German photographer finds the world imperfect, full of violence, discrimination, poverty and war. This documentary movie creates a real motion of his living. Known as a man of quiet, courage and integrity, Natchwey dedicated his life to representing the life of human being who lives in struggle. With compassion, he has witnessed miseries that happen all over the world.

Starting with a portrait of Kosovo, his heart runs to the suffering of loss after war and the hostilities which tears are not enough to resolve. People did not get any advantages from the war, only sorrow. Young men stay in the situation of guns and violence, and then kids learn how to take revenge. As in Kosovo, so too in Palestine. Without fear, Natchwey took all the risks to win trust from the people he photographs.

Natchwey has also featured the poverty and slums in Jakarta (Indonesia). The main character of this story is Sumarno, a paralyzed man who lives near the railway track with his wife and two children. Poverty has become his reality, but he keeps building love, care and joy for his family.

Nachtwey works not only for news and aesthetics. It deals with a humanitarian mission. It is a flaming spirit and with the flame Natchwey has inspired people in the world across borders and across generations.
